Tara Garner–
Making History with God.
Tara and Gregg Garner’s Decision to Say Yes Inspires others to do the Same
Obedience in the Unknown.
Respond to God by saying “Yes, Lord.”
How Tara responded to God during the formative years of G.O.D. International is an inspiring and challenging story of what it means to be truly obedient to God. After she and Gregg committed themselves to serve God full time as missionaries in Kenya, Gregg woke her up to tell her God's word to him. "Go to Nashville instead, and I'll send many more in your place." She responded with, "that's confusing since we are supposed to go to Kenya." But she had faith. Tara and Gregg obeyed, despite not knowing anyone in Nashville, having no job prospects, and nowhere to live. They didn’t even have the apps people use today to find housing or jobs. They obeyed without complaint. Tara trusted the Lord and her husband when there were no supporters, no schools, no office, and no funding. Despite all this, she said “yes, Lord.”
Moving to Nashville, TN
When they moved to Nashville in 2000 Tara got a job as a social worker and supported the ministry's work for the first few years. Tara and Gregg said yes to God, over and over again. Saying yes looked like making their apartment G.O.D.’s first offices and their home the first Institute dorms. When their friends in Africa were sick or needed help, Tara and Gregg would forego their own needs, even selling their furniture, to ensure their African brothers and sisters had enough.
Meeting Needs However She Can
As the ministry grew, Tara took on roles like accounting, communications, and administration. As the ministry's impact has grown to reach local, regional, national, and international levels, Tara has remained steadfast in every trial that comes along with it. She never forgets to document the ministry's inner workings and host story nights to share God's work with another generation of laborers. Her honest and thought-provoking writing is some of the most impactful pieces published by G.O.D.
